Hello Mitch:

There is no cost to upgrade from 2.0 to 2.5 -- just download the 2.5 installation, and use your current 2.0 license key -- it'll work. You are right, however ... the information for "what's new" in 2.5 isn't so clear. Mainly performace and usability improvements were added in 2.5, but also some read-only VB.NET support, UI changes, and some other minor features. Nothing big was added ... just should work faster than version 2.0, etc...

I am using resharper 2.0. I can't find anywhere on your website that shows "what's new" in 2.5, and what the upgrade cost is.

Is that info available?

Cheers, that was all I need to know. Thanx, for also putting up a solution to installing Resharper into Orcas. (http://www.jetbrains.net/confluence/display/ReSharper/Installation+Notes+for+ReSharper)

Hello Maruis,

We've switched to a no-evaluation-license scheme both for ReSharper 2.5.2 and ReSharper 3.0 EAP.

The way it works now is that you just download and install a build, and just go ahead and use it. There are no license keys to insert anymore.

The evaluation lasts 30 days for each EAP build. To answer your question, yes, each EAP build restarts the evaluation period.

You can also install and use nightly builds, however, they have no evaluation period of their own. With nightly builds, you're still using the 30-day evaluation from the most recent EAP build you've installed.

I should also mention that an evaluation period starts when you first start using the software. It does not start and expire on pre-specified dates like it used to in previous EAPs.

I'm going to do a blog post on this topic very soon.

Please let us know if you have any more questions :)

Can someone explain why the licensing for Resharper 3.0 has been changed? Will the evaluation period re-start after I install a new eap build? And if not, where do I get a license key for Resharper 3.0?
