Share Your Coding Session - Input in ReSharper Enhancement
Monday, July 23rd, 2007Those of us on the ReSharper Team are sometimes acting blindly when deciding on features, improvements and general directions to take the product. We already hear from you in our issue tracking system, community and EAP forums and in personal chats. However, we cannot see how you code, how you take advantage of ReSharper’s intelligent features, what capabilities you’re not using, and what you need to improve your work. Understanding this, we’ll be in a better position to improve your workflow by making the changes that best suit your needs.
If you have about 30 minutes of spare time, you can help us improve the product for you, your coding style, and your projects. Just make a screencast and send it to us so we can review it. We will not show it anyone outside the team, unless you give us permission to do so.
And to make this request a bit more interesting and challenging, we are awarding free Personal Licenses for ReSharper 3.0 Full Edition to the contestants who submit the best three videos. The team will decide which videos are the best.
You can submit as many videos as you like, but to participate in the contest, the videos need to meet the following criteria:
- You use ReSharper 3.0 in the video. The terms of use (under a permanent license or evaluation) doesn’t matter.
- The video is 5 to 10 minutes in length and almost always in action.
- You grant us permission to publish the video by checking the appropriate radio dial when you submit your video. Obviously, people want to see the winners! Please be sure to avoid submitting any sensitive information visible in the video.
- You provide your full name, e-mail address and postal address so we can contact you and register you in our customer database if you win.
- The video is submitted not later than August 24th, 2007.

Note: We welcome longer videos on real projects, anonymous submissions, etc., however they will not be entered into the competition. If you already have personal license for ReSharper 3.0 Full Edition, we’ll determine an equivalent substitute prize if you win.
If you don’t have software for making screencasts, you can download Windows Media Encoder. Create a “Capture Screen” session and use “Entire screen” mode. If you are coding with music you can check the “Capture audio” checkbox. Use your full name for the file name, if you don’t have a better idea. Select “Medium” quality settings. Start capturing and go code! Once you’re done, submit it.
