CodeMash Winners

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

We’ve come back from CodeMash, and some of us still recovering from Jet lag. What a great conference! During the event we collected cards for prize drawings, where you not only get a chance to win a product, but actually choose which product you want. Here are the lucky ones:

  • Scott Williams – dotTrace Personal License
  • Darren Gussin – ReSharper Personal License
  • Robert Ohmer – ReSharper Personal License
  • Marc Peabody – RubyMine Personal License
  • Justin Searls – WebStorm Personal License

Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you for everyone else for taking part. If your name is on there, you should already have been contacted with your license. If that’s not the case, please get in touch with us.

Check out some pictures of CodeMash on our Facebook page

CodeMash, here we come!

What is there to do in Sandusky, Ohio, in the middle of Winter with sub-zero temperatures and snow? Well CodeMash of course, which takes place from the 12th to the 14th of January.

JetBrains is not only Adamantium sponsor, but will also be there! We will have a booth and a vendor session where we’ll show some of the upcoming features in ReSharper 6 as well as some of our other tools.

I’d love to say that if you’ve not signed up to CodeMash, make sure you do, but it would be useless. They sold out on the 3rd day! So if you’re one of the lucky ones that has a ticket, please stop by and say hello!

Our vendor Session will be on Thursday from 3 pm. I’ll also be doing a session on CouchDB on Thursday at 4:50 pm.

This is the first of a series of great events planned for 2011, so stay tuned!

Happy New Year!

Big Thank You to everyone who took part.

We originally had planned to pick out 5 winners but due to the overwhelming amount of participants, we’ve doubled the number.

JetBrains will be in Malmö from the 8th to the 12th of November for Øredev. Apart from our booth, we will also be hosting a JetBrains Night on Thursday during the Oredev Open Night.

This is an event where everyone is invited, whether you are attending Øredev or not .

The Agenda is:

19:00 - 19:30 What’s cooking at JetBrains. We’ll show you some of the cool new features of ReSharper 6 and talk a bit about our upcoming plans
19:30 – 20:00 Code Coverage: It’s not about the numbers. We’ll take a look at the new dotCover tool from JetBrains and show how code coverage helps solve issues.
20:00 – 22:30 Open Spaces: Writing Quality Software that matters. An open discussion about the importance of writing software that is of high quality.

And we’ll top this all off with food and drinks. Since places are limited, you do need to register. Screencast Contests Extended Until September 16!

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

As you know, we’ve got two screencast contests going on at JetBrains TV, and we’re giving out FREE passes to DevCon London and JAX London 2010 to top 10 screencast submitters in each of these contests.

The problem is that we haven’t received enough submissions. Considering that, both screencast contests are extended until September 16!. The new date for announcing winners is September 17.

That means, there’s an additional week for you to submit new screencasts to JetBrains TV and win free passes!

See contest rules and requirements for DevCon London 2010 Screencast Contest and JAX London 2010 Screencast Contest.

JetBrains Community Night at DevCon

Monday, September 6th, 2010

imageFrom the 27th to the 29th of September, DevCon London is taking place. DevCon is organized by Software and Support, the great team behind conferences such as BASTA, JAX, PHPCon and many more. The conference is in parallel with JAX London so there’s for sure going to be a mix of crowds between .NET and Java developers. There’s a great line-up of speakers (a few more not on the list including Greg Young and Neil Robbins) and Richard and Carl will be there with their .NET Rocks Panel. If you’ve not signed up yet, I recommend you do. It’s going to be a great event.

The night of the 29th, JetBrains is holding an Open Doors community event, where we’ll show some of the things we are working on, discuss some future plans and also have two great friends of JetBrains, Sebastian Lambla and Howard van Rooijen talk to us about dealing with packages in .NET and promoting standards across teams. All this will be topped off with Beer and Snacks.

This is a free event, and you do not need to register for the main conference to attend this. However, places are limited so I do recommend you sign up as soon as possible if you want to come.

Also, don’t forget that you can still have a chance to win a free entrance to DevCon or JAX London (2 day pass valued at over 540 Pounds Sterling) by submitting a Screencast to JetBrainsTV

Hope to see you there!

Submit a Screencast to JetBrains.TV and Win a Free Pass to DevCon London 2010!

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Some great things are happening here at JetBrains.

First of all, we have just revealed the very first Beta of JetBrains TV, the definitive resource for videos on JetBrains products and best development practices. Hadi’s got to say a little bit more about it.

Second, we thought if we now have a resource for videos, why not use it straight away to leverage the power of community?

We have 10 passes to the upcoming DevCon London conference that will be held in London, UK, on Septeber 27-29 featuring Scott Allen, Ted Neward, Neal Ford, Greg Young, Ian Cooper, Dino Esposito, Hadi Hariri, Carl Franklin, Richard Campbell, and other renowned speakers. Each of the 2-day passes that we’re giving away is worth £549. You can get one of them pretty easily.

Update! The contest is extended until September 16!

All you need to do for a chance to get a free DevCon London pass is create and share a short screencast about any feature (or features) in any of JetBrains .NET tools: ReSharper, dotTrace, or dotCover. Make sure to submit your screencast to JetBrains TV no later than on September 16. You can highlight your favorite feature, come up with a set of tips and tricks, or make a short task-specific tutorial: be creative in choosing the content of your screencast! If you had previously created a screencast at another video hosting site, you’re free to submit it to JetBrains TV and you’ll be eligible for the contest - just provide a link to the original video location and help us make sure that you’re the author of the original video.

We’ll pick 10 winners on September 17 and provide them with a promotion code that will enable them to visit DevCon London absolutely free of charge!

With this contest, we’re mostly targeting UK developers but if you live elsewhere and you’re willing to land in London on September 28 and 29, you’re very much welcome to take part!

Contest Rules:

  • You publish your screencast (or several screencasts, if you will) at JetBrains TV no later than on September 16. Please use your JetBrains Account to log in there.
  • We will choose best submitted screencasts via internal vote.
  • We will announce 10 winners on September 17 and provide them with free DevCon London passes.

Requirements:

  • JetBrains TV accepts videos in the following file formats: mp4, mpeg, avi, mpg, wmv, flv, and mov. Make sure to export your video to one of these formats.
  • Use 4:3 aspect ratio for better publishing quality.
  • Publish your screencast to a channel that corresponds to the product it’s about: ReSharper, dotCover, or dotTrace.
  • Make sure to mark your screencast with tag DevCon 2010 Screencast Contest.

Recommendations:

  • Please showcase current versions of JetBrains products. By current versions, we mean ReSharper 5.0 or later, dotTrace 4 Performance Beta 3 or later, and dotCover 1.0 Beta or RC.
  • Silent screencasts are fine but we’d prefer voiceover.
  • Recommended resolutions: 1024*768 or 800*600.
  • Try to limit screencast duration to 5 minutes.

You are free to create your screencasts using any screencasting tool (Camtasia, Captivate - hey, there are lots of them) and make them available via JetBrains TV.

By the way, we’re also raffling 10 passes to JAX London that will be held in the same venue in the same time with DevCon. If you want to get there too, you can submit a screencast about IntelliJ IDEA (or another IntelliJ-based IDE) as well. See details on the IntelliJ IDEA Blog.

Looking forward to your contributions!

We’re going to NDC!

image

JetBrains will be exhibiting at the Norwegian Developer Conference next week. Myself, Oleg “Don’t EVER separate me from my iPad” Stepanov, Eugene “If there’s anything you want to know about ReSharper, he’s your man” Pasynkov and Eugene Petrenko from TeamCity will be there.

We’ll be doing demos, prize raffles, and of course giving out the (now famous) “I see dead code” T-Shirts.

photo

I’ll also be giving 3 talks, one on CouchDB, another on Code Contracts and a third on Mocking. Conference organizers have been kind enough to spread them out for me over the 3 days so that I cannot get smashed until the last night. Oh well! You know what they say: If you’re going to Norway and want it to be legal, it’s got to happen at NDC.

So if you’re going to NDC and want to discuss any issues, tell us about your next feature request that will revolutionize the world, get a T-Shirt or even (I know…sounds crazy) say hello, stop by our booth.

See you there!

JetBrains Vendor Session at DevConnections Now Available

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

We’ve recently received a recording from JetBrains vendor session at DevConnections hosted by our wonderful evangelist, Hadi Hariri. A certainly good thing about the performance is that instead of handing out a bunch of free licenses worth a new Rolls-Royce Phantom, he was rather doing business, showing how you can use the combination of TDD, MSpec and ReSharper to create ASP.NET MVC applications efficiently. If you weren’t attending DevConnections but you’re interested in TDD, MSpec and ASP.NET MVC, here’s the full performance:

In addition to vimeo, we’ll put the video on the website shortly to make it available from the ReSharper section.

JetBrains to Sponsor DevConnections 2010

Monday, April 5th, 2010

JetBrains is a platinum sponsor for this year’s DevConnections conference taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 12-14, featuring the official launch of Visual Studio 2010.

Join us at booth 207 and get to know the .NET Team — the people behind ReSharper, dotTrace and dotCover. Yes, they get to go there and hang out with you, while the folks back home work their butts off to sim-ship ReSharper 5.0!

In addition to presence at the booth, JetBrains .NET tools evangelist Hadi Hariri will host a vendor session on Test-Driven Development of ASP.NET MVC Applications.

If you’re planning to visit Launch events in London, Bangalore, Kuala Lumpur or Beijing, we’re sponsoring them too, but we won’t be there in person.
