Web Developers about IntelliJ IDEA
March 27th, 2006 by Alexandra RusinaAlthough IntelliJ IDEA is a Java IDE in the first place, it also has a strong support for Web and J2EE development. And it’s not just what we think about our product. It’s what our users think.
Here is a couple of reviews about HTML and JavaScript editing in IntelliJ IDEA:
1. Teaching Mr. Rails a Lesson on Productivity
2. JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA - Development Tool Review
Except for the warm words for IntelliJ IDEA, both reviews contain useful tips&tricks and examples. So, if you use IntelliJ IDEA for Web development, these articles might be helpful.

I miss the time I worked with Idea(I switched the languages I use).
Idea for python/php would be just the best thing in world, it will be the dream that comes true, but I doubt jetbrains will ever find the deal attractive, they gotta earn some money with it and I doubt they will actually.

PLEASE DO IT. There is no decent IDE for PHP…

Now that the JVM is beginning to support a number of dynamic languages, it would be fantastic if JetBrains would follow that trend with a strategy for IntelliJ to support them. How long can new releases of IntelliJ be based around better support for Java only?
The obvious choices to me for first class support of dynamic languages would be: Ruby, PHP, and Phython.
This would keep me upgrading to newer versions of IntelliJ.

Could we get the official word on PHP support here? Is it planned? Does JetBrains dislike it?
Thank you!
(Incidentally, I work for a company whose name starts with a Y and is the largest user of PHP in the world. I do not represent my employer here, but I can say that more than one of us have an interest in using your IDE.)

You’d have 15 licensed copies TODAY if you had php support. We would also love the ability to support python, but it’s not insane - there are some decent alternatives.
We already own 4 copies for Java development, love it, and are in serious pain in terms of php development tools. Most of us use textmate, I use Zend, but so far nothing that supports reasonable refactoring has come to market.

Waiting for ages for this feature, PLEASE add PHP support for your next release.
No suitable plug in for this (all are buggy
)

Another request for PHP support! I use IDEA 8.1 at work for Java and it rocks!
July 18th, 2009 at 9:10 am
Please, please add PHP support (including debuggin). I tend to choose languages that are supported by idea just because it this single fact. Sometimes I don’t have the choice and have to use Eclipse and it is just painful.
