Too late for 8.0, but here is a feature that would put IntelliJ years ahead of the competition:

A "Pair Programming Mode" allowing two developers visually share a single IntelliJ editing session remotely over a network. Build in support for voice-chat using XMPP/talk.google.com.

I know that this can be accomplished using other tools (VNC, Nomachine/NX, or GotoMyPC) but none of those implementations are specifically suited for the software developer. As more and more software is being developed by 'virtual' companies with employees spread out all over the country/planet, this is becoming a critical need for many development shops.

Hey guys, by any chance will you be looking at fixing your polling based architecture so us guys who travel and develop don't have to carry around a spare battery?
