IntelliJ IDEA 11 Beta (build 110.492) is available!
November 22nd, 2011 by Maxim MossienkoWe’re getting closer and the finish line is just ahead. Please welcome the Beta build.
The IntelliJ IDEA 11 Beta has new streamlined UI for tabs, tool-windows and navbar. We’ve added an experimental plugin for Subversion 1.7 support for early adopters and JDK 1.6_29 is bundled inside Windows distribution.
Download IntelliJ IDEA 11 Beta, check out the release notes for this build and submit your feedback to the issue tracker. There’s still time to make IntelliJ IDEA 11 better.
If you are developing plugins for IntelliJ IDEA, it is the best time now to ensure the compatibility with the forthcoming version 11.
Develop with pleasure!

Great news!
Does this mean that SVN 1.7 support will be officially supported in IDEA 11 final?

http://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issue/IDEA-76853 is somewhat annoying (I run diff *a lot*) and it still appears in beta. Hope you’ll be able to address it in release. Thanks!
Also, is there any way to get comments sent by e-mail somehow? Otherwise, I have no way to track when and if any response is posted here.

Liking the UI changes for the tool-windows and navbar, not so much for the tabs as it now looks like a giant grey block at the top of the IDE (with 20 tabs open). It looks good with a small amount open though.

is the php plugin finally available for 11?

Great !
Small thing, it would be nice to beef up a little bit the resource bundle editor, we should be able to do the following operation :
- Create new key
- Rename key
- Duplicate key
Optionally, the resource bundle editor should be able to save the properties keeping the alpha sort order of the keys.

The play framework plugin seems to be missing in 492 - at least I can’t find it.
It worked great in the last EAP.

Those bugs are very annoying. Hope they will be fixed in 11 release.

I love the new design, but it’s very hard now to tell classes and tests apart when the tabs are inactive.

IMO, the UI has significantly degraded under MacOS since 110.187.
In Beta it sometimes looks like Metal L&F or even worse. I mean all those flatten gray buttons, tabs, breadcrumbs elements, etc.
In build 110.187 all these look way nicer.
I sincerely hope it’s an accidental regression which will be fixed in release.

Dank je wel (Dutch for thanks)

I agree with Jordan Lee - tabs are a gray mess. I mean, it’s great that you fixed the old problem when if you had tests or library classes open, it was hard to distinguish where an active tab was, but hey, it’s too depressing gray now

Subversion 1.7 simply not available in 111.24?
November 30th, 2011 at 12:35 pm
What Subversion 1.7 support?!!!
The team integration was one of the superior features that IJ had over Eclipse. Now that it is useless with SVN 1.7 I may have to reconsider my IDE of choice.

Choose Device window:
With multiple devices - would you display the Android version (like Eclips)

Tried latest version and 111.24. There is NO support of subversion 1.7.
It cannot work with 1.7 working copies and it offers to checkout maximum to 1.6 version.

Forget 11! I need subversion 1.7 support in 10, otherwise I’ll be forced back to Eclipse. When is it coming for 10?

Simon,
We do not have any plans to provide Subversion 1.7 support for IntelliJ IDEA 10.x. However, the code is open-source, so you’re welcome to backport it yourself if you’d like to.

Yole, could you please tell if 1.7 support was turned off after this release?
Tried latest release, no svn support.
December 12th, 2011 at 6:11 am
Ivan,
Yes, SVN 1.7 was removed after this release because we’ve found major performance problems with it.
