IntelliJ IDEA 10.5.2 EAP 107.509

Monday, August 8th, 2011

A new EAP build of IntelliJ IDEA 10.5.2 is available now. The most important thing to note about this build is that we’ve finally tracked down the cause of the problem causing stale error markers to remain in the editor, and we hope that it has now been fixed. So please test and report.

You can find the list of other fixes in the release notes.

Source of StarTeam plugin released

Friday, August 5th, 2011

The StarTeam plugin which was available in earlier IntelliJ releases was removed from the IntelliJ IDEA 10 release, primarily due to our lack of resources required to maintain the plugin and ensure its compatibility with the latest versions of the StarTeam SDK. Now we’re making the source code of the plugin available to the community, so that anyone still using StarTeam and interested in improving the plugin can now do so.

You can find the code of the plugin at our new home on GitHub. The code is available under the Apache 2 license.

Announcing IntelliJ IDEA 10.5 with full Java 7 support

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Last Friday, during the Open Day in our new Munich Office, we unveiled the next upcoming release of IntelliJ IDEA, version 10.5. IntelliJ IDEA 10.5 will be released in Spring of 2011, and will be a free upgrade for existing users of IntelliJ IDEA 10.

The major focus of the new release is going to be Java 7 support. All of the new language features will be fully supported across the product, with code completion, code inspections, quickfixes and so on.

Besides that, we’re working on a number of new features and incremental improvements in all areas of the product, including:

  • Spring Roo console;
  • Bundled Jetty integration;
  • XSLT 2 support;
  • New refactorings for Groovy, such as Introduce Field;
  • Google Chrome support in the JavaScript debugger.

Of course, we’re also working on bugfixes, usability and performance improvements. In particular, in this release we’ve focused on improving startup performance, so you can expect the new version of IntelliJ IDEA to open and load your projects faster.

The Early Access Preview program for IntelliJ IDEA 10.5 will start in a few weeks. And if you can’t wait to try IntelliJ IDEA on your Java 7 code today, you’re welcome to check out the source code of IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition and build the new version yourself.

IntelliJ IDEA 10.0.2 Release Candidate

Friday, February 4th, 2011

We’ve just released a new EAP build for IntelliJ IDEA 10.0.2 which we consider to be the release candidate for the forthcoming update. The release notes list is fairly small this time, consisting mostly of bugfixes. The build is available for download on the IntelliJ IDEA 10.0.2 EAP page.

IntelliJ IDEA 10.0.2 EAP build 103.39

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

As the release of IntelliJ IDEA 10.0.2 approaches, we’re speeding up the release cycle of EAP builds. This time, we’ve made yet another attempt to change the Mac OS application stub so that it’s compatible with MacOS X 10.5 and 10.6. Note that IntelliJ IDEA now runs in 64-bit mode under Mac OS X. On first startup, it prompts you whether you’d like to stay in 64-bit mode or switch to 32-bit for lower memory usage.

The build is available for the download on the IntelliJ IDEA 10.0.2 EAP page. You can also review the complete release notes.

IntelliJ IDEA 10.0.2 EAP build 103.14

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

This EAP contains two major fixes that are important enough to warrant a release slightly ahead of the weekly schedule. First of all, we’ve tracked down and fixed a very annoying problem which could cause lost characters when typing in the editor in a Subversion-managed project. Second, we’ve bundled a new application stub for the MacOS X distribution, which should be compatible both with MacOS X 10.5 and the latest Java updates for MacOS X 10.6.

Also, this EAP has preliminary support for storing Subversion credentials in Keychain under MacOS X; we’re still testing these changes, and you’re welcome to report your experience as well.

The build is available for the download on the IntelliJ IDEA 10.0.2 EAP page. You can also review the complete release notes.

IntelliJ IDEA 10.0.2 EAP build 102.216

Friday, January 21st, 2011

Today’s Friday, which means that today’s the time to release a new EAP build of IntelliJ IDEA 10.0.2. The release notes this time include a couple of minor new features, such as new inspections, a new option for folding multiple end-of-line comments in Java code, JavaDoc formatter improvements and more.

The build is available for the download on the IntelliJ IDEA 10.0.2 EAP page.
